Effective date: August 10, 2026
ApplianceEdge ("we," "us," or "our") operates applianceedge.co (the "Site"). This policy describes what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built ApplianceEdge to help people make better appliance decisions — not to harvest their data — and this policy reflects how the Site actually works.
1. Information you provide to us
Tool inputs. When you use our tools — such as Repair or Replace or the Energy Savings Calculator — you may enter information about your appliance: brand, model number, age, symptoms, repair history, repair quotes, and similar details. This information describes your appliance, not you. We retain tool inputs and results in aggregate, non-identifying form to improve our estimates, calibrate our recommendations, and understand real-world repair economics.
Email addresses. If you join a waitlist, request results by email, submit a correction, or contact us, you provide your email address and any message content you choose to include. We use it to do the thing you asked — send the results, answer the message, notify you when the thing you signed up for launches. Form submissions are processed by Formspree, Inc., which handles the data on our behalf.
Corrections and submissions. If you send us information about an appliance — an error report, documentation, or your ownership experience — we retain it for editorial review as described on our About page. Please don't include sensitive personal information in submissions; we don't need it and don't want it.
2. Information collected automatically
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used — pages visited, approximate location (city/region level), device type, and how visitors arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. You can learn how Google uses data at google.com/policies/privacy/partners.
Session analytics. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages — including heatmaps and session replays that show anonymized interaction patterns such as scrolling and clicking. Clarity uses cookies and similar technologies. For more, see Microsoft's privacy statement.
Tool telemetry. When you run our tools, we log the technical details of the run — the appliance family matched, the type of analysis performed, and the results shown — so we can improve accuracy over time. These logs describe appliances and outcomes, not identified individuals.
Cookies and local storage. The Site uses cookies and browser storage for the analytics described above and for basic site functionality. The Site works with cookies disabled, though analytics will not function.
3. Advertising
The Site does not currently display third-party advertising. If we introduce advertising in the future, we may work with advertising partners such as Google AdSense. Advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. If and when advertising is active, you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) and learn more at aboutads.info. We will update this policy when advertising becomes active.
4. How we use information
We use the information described above to: operate and improve the Site and its tools; calibrate our repair-economics estimates and recommendations against real-world data; respond to messages and fulfill requests; send communications you signed up for; understand Site usage; and maintain the security and integrity of the Site.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Service providers
We use a small set of service providers to run the Site: hosting and deployment (Vercel), analytics (Google, Microsoft), and form processing (Formspree). Each processes data as needed to provide its service to us.
6. Data retention
Analytics data is retained per the settings of our analytics providers. Tool telemetry is retained in aggregate form indefinitely, as it forms the basis of our published estimates. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Correction submissions are retained as editorial records.
7. Your choices and rights
You can use the Site without providing any personal information. You can block cookies in your browser. You can unsubscribe from any email list via the link in the email or by contacting us.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act provides rights regarding personal information, including the right to know what we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising those rights. We collect only the categories described in this policy, and we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us at the address below; we will verify and respond as the law requires.
If you are located in a jurisdiction with similar data-protection rights, we will honor requests to access or delete your personal information on the same basis.
8. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect the information we handle. No website can guarantee perfect security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Site evolves. The effective date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
